New Haven, Connecticut Hospice Care

The New Haven-Milford area is home to the United States’ first hospice program, The Connecticut Hospice. The organization was established in 1974 and modeled in part, after St. Christopher’s Hospice in London, England. Since that time, the numbers of hospice programs in the U.S. have grown steadily with the original mission remaining unchanged-to enhance comfort for terminally ill patients and their loved ones.

Choosing a hospice program can be challenging. Fortunately, the New Haven-Milford area offers many hospices from which to choose.
