Patients who experience late-stage illness often have distressing symptoms as well as emotional and spiritual concerns. Hospice utilizes a patient-centered, team approach called palliative care. This type of care is specially designed to enhance quality of life by managing symptoms and addressing concerns. Hospice care also offers bereavement support to loved ones for at least 13 months after the death of the patient.
